The Sweet Lucy Story

Hi! I'm Leanne Jones, owner of Sweet Lucy – Cake & Event Studio; established in 2015.

Queensland has been my home since 2009, moving up from South Australia. I am a proud parent to a set of 20 year old triplets, and three school age children. Since the triplets were born, I had been searching for a way to work from home. That was my dream and my plan but I could not figure out what would suit me and my skills. I had almost given up when, in 2014 I decided to make our youngest child a first birthday cake. All I can say is that something clicked in me, something shifted and a true passion was born. I honestly had not decorated a cake since our triplet's 8th birthday  - and believe me, they were nothing special. One day I will find the photos and post them in my blog!

Since late 2014, I have studied and practiced for many hours. From decorating techniques, to test baking countless recipes. A Queensland Government Grant gave me vital access to Business and Industry Professionals, both in Australia as well as overseas. This, combined with amazing family support has seen my business flourish and I am very excited about it's future.

In 2018 we were chosen as the Micro/Home Based Business of the Year with the Bundaberg Regional Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards. And was also featured in the Queensland Government's Initiative - 100 Faces of Small Business.

We design and create custom cakes and cupcakes for all occasions, ensuring that the entire process is handled in a friendly and professional manner. Sweet Lucy also designs wedding cakes, with a focus on reflecting our bride's and groom's spirit and style. A niche has developed with the introduction of our range of stunning Cupcake Bouquets.

Priding ourselves on working together with you and your budget to create the perfect celebration cake for your special event. Limiting the orders we take each week means that we focus on you throughout the entire creation process.

Sweet Lucy is a registered and insured cake decorating business. While building our new cake studio and family home, I work out of a local commercial kitchen to satisfy Bundaberg Council regulations.
